FACTS ABOUT THE COMMUNITY CENTER:
- 29,891-square foot facility will host public meetings, assisted evacuations and small special events in the first parish-owned gym space.
- Low bid comes from Lamar Contractors Inc. at $10,565,980
- Funding comes from a Housing and Urban Development Community
- Development Block Grant for Disaster Recovery in the amount of
$7,809,266. The parish plans to construct a permanent backup
power generator at the facility through a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant in
the amount of $275,000. Other state funding through the Office of Community Development Local Government Assistance Program in the amount of $139,000. Remaining funding from the parish’s general fund.

- Will house office space for Parks and Recreation, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and the Community Services Department.
