The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a public meeting to provide an update on the
status of completed and ongoing construction projects on the East Bank of St.
Charles Parish between Norco and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International
Airport. Corps project managers will discuss improvements to the LaBranche
wetlands levees, fronting protection at pump stations and drainage
structures, as well as construction of the new floodwall beneath Interstate
310. By June 1, these features will defend against a storm surge event
that has a one percent chance of occurring in any given year.
Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the status of
construction and what type of impacts can be expected in neighborhoods as the
Corps continues to build the hurricane system.
Informational open house is from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
Presentation begins at 6:30 p.m.
