SoLA Center for the Arts is
presenting Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. Based on the novels “The
Adventures of Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass” by
Lewis Carroll and adapted from the 1951 Disney film “Alice and
Wonderland,” the show will perform at 7 p.m. July 29 and July 30 at 7pm
and at 2 p.m. July 31. The performances are at HL Bourgeois High School,
No. 1 Reservation Court, Gray.
Join Alice's madcap adventures in Wonderland as she chases the
White Rabbit, races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with the Tweedles, raps
with a bubble-blowing caterpillar and beats the Queen of Hearts at her
own game. Roles are plentiful, including three Cheshire cats and dozens
of other wonderfully wacky characters. This fast-paced stage adaptation
of Alice in Wonderland features updated dialogue and new arrangements of
such classic Disney songs as "I'm Late," "The Un-birthday Song" and
"Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah."
The cast is made up of students from SoLA Center for the Arts
Drama Camp ages range from 7 through 14. Students have been studying
music, theatre and dance. Campers learned theater direction, singing as a
group, choreography, voice projection, stage combat, stage movement,
how to harmonize, improvisation and characterization.
Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at www.solacenter.org/theatre, the SoLA office at 7839 Park Ave., Houma, or at the door. For more information call SoLA at (985) 876-2222.
