On Oct. 13 the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office TRIAD Program, along with its partners the Charles Parish Council on Aging and the United Way of St. Charles, will host its annual TRIAD Senior Day.

The event will take place at the Jerusalem Temple on Ormond Boulevard beginning at 9:30 a.m. A complimentary lunch will be served around 11:30 a.m. All senior citizens in St. Charles Parish are invited to attend.

Numerous exhibitors will be present, including VIA Link, St. Charles Council on Aging, Peoples Health, Second Harvest, ARC of St. Charles, Tri-Parish Medicaid, Marrero Health Care, American Red Cross, St. Catherine Hospice, the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, St. Anthony Outreach, Creative Family Solutions, American Cancer Society, Louisiana Federal Credit Union, River Region Hospice, United Way of St. Charles, Southern University AgCenter, Edward Jones Financial, Louisiana Senior Medical Patrol, St. Charles Community Health Center, East St. Charles Fire Department and the Metropolitan Center for Women and Children.

TRIAD is a commitment between the Sheriff’s Office, Council on Aging and other senior service providers in our parish to help reduce elder victimization and increase law enforcement services to older persons.

The purpose of TRIAD is to develop and implement crime prevention and educational programs for older individuals. Activities center on both pre-victimization (preventative) and post-victimization (victim/witness assistance) aspects.

TRIAD also focuses on reducing fear of crime by identifying misconceptions, educating seniors on criminal activity that affects them and creating programs to reduce crime against seniors.
