A Midsummer Night's Dream

South Louisiana Center for the Arts is presenting A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare and adapted by Pat Crochet. The performances are 7 p.m. Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 and 2 p.m. Nov. 27 at Le Petite de Terrebonne, 7829 Main St., Houma.

This drama is one of the great comedy plays by William Shakespeare. The play revolves around the adventures of four young lovers, a group of amateur actors and their interactions with the fairies who inhabit a moonlit forest. The story takes place in midsummer and is a complex farce featuring Hermia and Lysander and Helena and Demetrius.

Their romantic intrigues are confused and complicated still further by entering the forest where Oberon, the King of the Fairies, and his Queen, Titania, preside. Puck (Robin Goodfellow) is a major character full of mischief and tricks. Other visitors to the enchanted forest include Bottom the weaver and his friends Snug, Snout, Quince and Flute, the amateur dramatists who want to rehearse their terrible but hilarious version of the play Pyramus and Thisbe.

The cast’s ages range from 11 to 16, and all are students from SoLA Center for the Arts drama senior class. Join us for after-Thanksgiving fun.

Tickets are $6 and may be purchased at the SoLA office, 7839 Park Ave., Houma, or at the door. For more information call SoLA at (985) 876-2222.
