Festival of Charities, Inc. which benefits the Down Syndrome Association of Greater New Orleans, the ARC of St. Charles, and other charitable organizations is seeking contestants for their annual Butterfly Extravaganza and Pageants to be held on Sunday, Aug. 19 at Ormond Plantation Manor, 13786 River Road in Destrehan.
What Decade Are You is the theme for this year's pageant.
Youth Division
The festivities will start at noon and doors will open at 11 am for the Baby and Youth Contest. The divisions and times are as follows: Girls: 0-7 months—12:00 PM, 8-14 months - 12:00 PM, 15-23 months - 12:15 PM, 2-3 years - 12:15 PM, 4-5 years—12:30 PM, 6-7 years– 12:30 PM, and 8-9 years– 12:45 PM.
Queens will receive a crown and banner. All participants receive a butterfly tiara. Entry fee is $45.00.
Late registration will be accepted at the door 30 minutes prior to the division at $50 cash only.
General admission for the youth pageant is $3.00, under 12 $1.00.
Attire is Sunday Best, Natural Hair and Make-Up, NO GLITZ! Awards will be given for Photogenic, Fashion, Prettiest Eyes and Smile.
Ms., Miss, Teen, Junior Division
Contestants for the Senior Division must be 17-23 for the Miss Division, 13-16 for the Teen Division, 10-12 for the Junior Division; never married, nor been with child, and reside in the state Louisiana.
A Ms. division, for ladies 24 years and older, single or married is also available. Entry fees are $75 for Miss and Ms. and $60 for Teen and Junior.
The pageant will begin at 5PM, doors will open at 4 PM. Interview will be held earlier in the morning.
Deadline to enter the Senior Division pageant is Tuesday, August 14th at midnight.
The Festival of Charities Queens will represent the organization during their reign and have the opportunity to travel to many fairs and festivals statewide. General admission for the senior pageant is $5.00, under 12 $3.00.
Contestants may sell Parade of Prizes tickets for entry fees in all divisions.
