MICHELLE O’DANIELS, COUNCILWOMAN, DISTRICT V, grew up in the River Parishes and has resided in St. Charles Parish with her husband Mike Maloz for over 18 years. She is an attorney and the owner of MOD Legal, LLC, a law firm located in St. Charles Parish.

Michelle graduated from St. Charles Catholic High School.  She attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated with top honors with degree in business administration, majoring in Finance.  Then, she graduated from Tulane University School of Law, with honors.  While in her third year at Tulane, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal while externing for the Honorable Charles Schwartz, Jr., Senior Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

After working for federal and state court judges, Michelle practiced law as an attorney with large and small firms concentrating on maritime, environmental, and insurance issues.  With her problem-solving skills acquired by advising large and small corporations, Michelle plans to serve her district and the citizens of the Parish by being a voice for the residents on the issues that are most important to them.

Michelle is Chairman of the Contract/Finance and Administrative Committee; a member of the Special Projects/Public Safety, Health and Environmental Committee; Operations, Maintenance and Construction Management Committee; Legislative Committee; and Hurricane Protection Projects Committee.

She is currently serving as a member of the Sunset Drainage District - Board of Commissioners; is a member of the Louisiana Police Jury Association, the National Association of County Officials, and NACo’s Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee; and a member of the Regional Planning Commission.

Michelle continues to volunteer with the Matthew 25:35 Ministry, Lawyers in Libraries Program, and will continue her decades-long membership in the Louisiana State Bar Association, Women in International Shipping Association (WISTA) and the Maritime Law Association of the United States.
